Jessica Warren is a licensed attorney with nearly thirty years of experience. Jessica obtained her undergraduate degree in 1992 from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in the Plan II honors program. She subsequently attended Baylor Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1995. While at Baylor Law School, Jessica was named the “Thomas R. Phillips Scholar”.
After graduating, Jessica began her legal career in Houston, Texas litigating products liability claims. Jessica moved back to Austin, Texas in 1998 and began her transition to the practice of estate planning and probate in 2004. Jessica began her solo practice when she first opened the doors to the Law Office of Jessica M. Warren, PC in 2010, the origin of what is now Warren & Kazen Law.
Jessica has been named as a Five Star Wealth Advisor and a Five Star Estate Planning Attorney based upon numerous criteria including peer reviews. Jessica was an adjunct professor at Texas State University and taught Introduction to Fiduciary Law in the McCoy School of Business. Jessica has given several speeches on estate planning, trust and probate issues, including Fiduciary Duties of a Trustee (2008), Organizing Your Business (2012-2014), Preparing Your Estate Plan (2013), and When There Is Not A Will (2014).
Jessica is licensed to practice law in all Texas state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the United States Tax Court.
Jessica strongly believes in the commitment to give back to the community. Over the years, Jessica has served on several non-profit boards, including the Travis County Women Lawyers Foundation and the Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters subcommittee of the State Bar of Texas. She has served as the President of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Austin Bar Association, and was recently appointed to serve on the Board of the Texas Advocacy Project.
Gregory S. Kazen is from an extended family of over 30 lawyers, including judges and distinguished public servants. Originally from Laredo, Texas, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1993, studied Jurisprudence and Moral and Political Philosophy at Glasgow University in Scotland, and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from University of Texas School of Law in Austin in 1998, where he served as an editor for The American Journal of Criminal Law.
Gregory subsequently became a partner at Atlas, Hall & Rodriguez, LLP, in McAllen, where he practiced for over twenty years covering a broad range of property law including estate planning and probate, commercial real estate and banking, leasing, special asset projects, local government law, and eminent domain. Gregory has represented the interests of individuals, businesses, national and State banks, as well as Hidalgo County and Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1. His representation extended to all sides of transactions, including executors, trustees, real estate developers, sellers, buyers, lenders, landlords, and tenants, from negotiation and drafting through signing and closing.
Gregory is a member of the State Bar of Texas (1998), a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, is certified in Professional Fiduciary Management for Trustees, and has been granted Guardianship Certification. He is a former member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association and the Hidalgo County Real Estate Law Section and served as Director of the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association. Gregory was previously recognized by his peers as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star. While living in McAllen, he served as a Director for both the Civic Center Advisory Board and McAllen Development Corporation, Inc. Gregory is licensed to practice in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas and Southern District of Texas. Upon moving back to Austin with his children in 2019, Gregory joined the Austin Bar Association and is a member of the Real Estate and the Estate Planning sections.
Payton Terzian grew up in the northeast where she graduated high school and decided to make a life change. She moved down to Texas in 2015 where she began attending Texas State University. Payton graduated in 2020 with a degree in Business Management. During her time in business school, she developed a passion for her business law classes and knew that’s where her future would take her.
Payton joined Warren & Kazen Law in April 2022 and is fueled by her desire for knowledge and growth. She has always loved working with people and enjoys building personal relationships and rapport with clients. She now works as our Office Manager and Paralegal and is your go-to person with any questions and concerns. Payton is eager to continue the growth and development of her role at the law firm and is more than happy to assist our clients with anything they need.
Payton enjoys spending her free time with her animals, traveling, finding new restaurants, and enjoying the variety of live music that Austin has to offer. When she’s not at home watching the latest Marvel movie with her pets, you can find her hiking through the Greenbelt, swimming at Barton Springs or paddleboarding Lady Bird Lake.
